Vic Government eases Laws for Live Music Venues
Following the closure of The Tote in Collingwood and outcry in the press about the dismal outlook for live music venues , Liquor Licensing Victoria has opened the doors for such venues to have costly security conditions eased, reported the Geelong Advertiser (28 January).
Chalk Hotel takes Legal Action over Glassing Incident
Brisbane’s Chalk Hotel is in the midst of a ‘glassing’ furore after announcing that they are “considering civil action over the events of Saturday morning, which led to a man being charged with throwing a glass at a fellow patron,” reported the Brisbane Times yesterday
The Riverview Hotel, Balmain, Sydney
Built in 1880, The Riverview Hotel is a heritage-listed delight of a pub tucked away on a side street in Balmain. Glass Ban for 70 ‘High Risk’ Brisbane Venues
The Courier Mail reported this morning (28 July) that more than 70 “high risk” licensed venues across Brisbane, including the Qantas Club, will be the first targeted in the State Government’s ban on glass.
Temperance Hotel, Melbourne
This curiously named pub housed in the old ‘Frostbites’ on Chapel Street has been completely overhauled into a contemporary bar and lounge in the heart of Melbourne’s busy shopping and entertainment district. While its name might suggest this as a place for teetotallers, General Manager, Peter Little, assures us that this pub is well-stocked with booze, saying : “We offer a diverse selection of fine wine and imported beers in a comfortable and contemporary environment that is made even more enjoyable by our knowledgeable and friendly staff.”
