Council Restricts Sugarmill’s Alfresco Drinking

Last year, the Sugarmill Hotel was granted a trial outdoor licence by the Council to put a beer garden in the mall which is an alcohol-free zone. At a council meeting at the beginning of the month, the licence was extended by 12 months but with some severe new restrictions in response to residential complaints.

Melbourne Booze Crackdown Continues

Yesterday (9 July) the Herald Sun reported that almost 1300 pub, club and bar owners have been punished under the crackdown on alcohol abuse. The Brumby Government is also ramping up the pressure on rebel licensees with the appointment of 40 new liquor inspectors.
