<p>Yellow Goat Design specializes in unique and quirky lighting designs, and there could be something in their range to suit your Private Dining Room or VIP lounge area. While trying to set a &#8216;mood&#8217; with your lighting, you could also set a trend for having the best lighting around town. From the &#8216;Droplet&#8217; range, each one of these single drop pendants is built up of individual opal acrylic donuts layered one on top of the other. With the CFL light-source just peeking out of the bottom they are a very cool idea and designer Conrad Johnsson has done exceptionally well to achieve such an aesthetically pleasing piece.</p>
<p>Alternatively, the &#8216;Floppy&#8217; design has layers of precisely cut acrylic ovals stacked in a mathematical sequence dictated by computer, giving this gorgeous piece a hard won soft randomness. According to the Yellow Goat team the seamless &#8216;randomness&#8217; was not hard to achieve - &#8220;We just threw them together!&#8221; Creating a perfectly balanced visual spectacle that would suit an intimate lounge area providing it with soft lighting and a trendy feel. </p>

<p>Within a cobbler glass throw of Melbourne pumping Chapel St is the sweet little wine and cocktail bar named Marmalade. Hamish Goonetilleke, owner of the new venture invites you down to kick back on the vintage chesterfield in out open front bar and watch as the world rushes by. &#8220;It&#8217;s been an amazing few weeks since opening and we are all really pumped! The people, the venue, the staff are all coming along really well,&#8221; Goonetilleke states.</p>
<p>The bar features unique stenciled/ graffiti styled artworks - done by some of Melbourne&#8217;s most noted street artists: HA-HA, Drew Funk and Doyle. And not to be out out by Melbourne&#8217;s sometimes pedantic weather, the team has build an &#8216;all seasons&#8217; beer garden complete with an impressively sized palm tree. Come the weekends, the beer garden will also play host to some of Melbourne&#8217;s hottest musicians, bringing live entertainment back to the old school backyard scene.</p>
<p>Grab some pizzas or antipasto plates and settle in with a few jugs of beer or really well priced wine by the glass. And yes there are cocktails served in marmalade jars too.</p>

This year&#8217;s design of the &#8216;Appleton Rum God&#8217; is set to again live up to all tiki expectations.</p>
<p>Designed and manufactured by Tiki Farm&#8217;s Holden Westland and Appleton Estate, &#8220;the mug far surpasses previous designs,&#8221; Holden&#8217;s explained. At time of deadline only a model was available for release. <p>The former site of <strong>The Middle Bar</strong> has undergone a drastic makeover to become LO-FI. The design team at Luchetti Krelle (responsible for the recently successful King&#8217;s Vault pop up wine bar) has completely revamping the old venue stripping back the interior to expose original foundations. The newly shed space will serve as a pop up art space, serving a snazzy selection of classic and contemporary cocktails for the remainder of 2010 - although hopefully with out a replay of Tom Cruise&#8217;s famous art gallery meltdown in the 1980s hit movie <em>Cocktail</em>.</p>
<p>The team is offering a serious list of drinks, with over 40 of histories best concoctions available. The Martinez, Hemmingway Daiquiri, French 75 or Mimosa could set you up for an elegant evening of classical artistic perusing or you could get your hands on something a bit more contemporary like a Mojito or Forbidden Fruit Foam, with passion fruit, cloudy apple juice mixed with lime, vodka and topped with an apple elderflower foam.</p>

<p>Inspired by a children&#8217;s nursery rhyme, Papa Goose is a new offering on the already jam packed Flinders Lane, Melbourne. Chef and Owner Neale White and his designer brother Lance White have created a stylish new venue with an industrial core based around steel beams, heavy wood and exposed air conditioning units. Visible fire stairs along with other trendy fit out features have people thinking it&#8217;s their own little piece of New York. Alison Hulm (General Manager) describes the new venture as; &#8220;A stylish, up-market venue in a superb location. It is great for an after work drink or a complete night out.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Papa Goose is attracting young professionals, foodies, Gen X and those who are in the know.&#8221; Hulm states.</p>
<p>The drinks selection is wide ranging with a large selection of premium spirits and 18 wines by the glass. The cocktails are suited for a dining experience, as well as just lounging about - and there is Grolsch beer on tap. Andrew Knox (previously from Oyster and Hairy Canary) and Mark Walton (former Emerald Peacock bar keep) have sussed out the crowd and put together a tight little cocktail selection - the favourite at the moment is the Papa Pedro; a sure fire digestive mix of Pedro Ximenez, Chilli Chocolate, Toussaint and Noilly Prat.</p>
<p>There is contemporary French/ modern Australian food on offer with White bringing his extensive experience to the fore making food best described as &#8220;Food that you just want to eat.&#8221; The Loose Goose bar offers a small but still serious selection of tapas style plates, giving you some grazing opportunities if you want to settle in for a few drinks and listen to the featured vinyl albums on play.</p>

The Hawthorn Brewing Company boast that the tasty brew is now available 40 pubs, bars and bottle shops, including top notch venues like Richmond&#8217;s <strong>Der Raum</strong>.</p>
<p>Hawthorn Brewing Company is the dream of three friends from Melbourne: Peter Willis, Hamish Reed and Darren Milo. The trio acknowledge that: &#8220;We&#8217;ve come a long way since we began home brewing for ourselves and our mates at BBQ&#8217;s more than 10 years ago.&#8221;</p>
<p>The company was established in 2008 with the aim of bringing great tasting recipes to the thirsty masses. This particular formulation took 11 trials (and apparently just as much taste testing) to finalise. Produced at the Mildura Brewery the group have tried to avoid their beer being yet another bottle conditioned American pale ale, so their recipe is an unusual mix of New and Old World hops. The result is a pale ale that presents a rich and complex malt character, derived from a bold blend of five different types of lightly kilned grain balanced by the by the inclusion of five complementary varieties of hops sourced from New Zealand, Southern England and the US Pacific Northwest.</p>
<p>Plans are afoot for a second and third brew to be released this year.</p>
