Eau-De-Vie set to open Next Week

If you haven’t heard the grapevine rumbling about eau-de-vie, then the rumbles are set to get a whole lot louder.
Sven & Amber Almenning, the industrious Behind Bars duo, are set to make their first foray into the world of ‘bar ownership’ when the doors of eau-de-vie swing open on January 20th.
Making a go of the bar in the Kirketon Hotel on Darlinghurst Road, Sydney, Sven declared on Facebook that: “bar geeks, connoisseurs and fun lovin’ bastards everywhere” should ” get yo’self ready!”

I dropped into Eau-De-Via for a quick drink last night and must say I was well impressed! I’m told I was their first paying customer! (the magazine must be slipping!) A very warm and inviting little bar with an amazing back bar and antique cocktail making equipment (what did you expect from Sven!). One thing that makes a great cocktail bar for me is if you would feel comfortable sitting at the bar by yourself. This place is that kind of bar where you can enjoy sitting and watch some great bartenders mixing up fine cocktails with ingredients you have only read about (in Bartender magazine of course). The best news is Barry is finally working in Sydney! Well done folks and I strongly suggest people go and check it out.
