The Australian bar industry is set to descend on Sydney for the biggest events in the bar industry calendar
Sydney BarShow 09 will take place on Tuesday 22 & Wednesday 23 September, 2009 at The Royal Hall of Industries, on Lang Road, Moore Park (next to Entertainment Quarter) in Sydney. Now in its eighth year, this innovative tradeshow will once again showcase the latest bar trends and products to thousands of industry professionals. Several key industry events will also be staged in conjunction with the show.
Sydney BarShow Seminars
There are SIX theatres at Sydney BarShow 09 which feature some of the biggest names in the international and local bartending community and will cover all the hottest topics that are on the agenda in Australia’s bar industry right now. You will be able to watch competitions and international speakers on the Bartender Magazine Bar Mixology Stage, pop your nose into at tasting in the Bar Tastings Theatre, talk business with leading bar experts and operators in the Bar Talks Theatre or check out one of our new and innovative offerings like Tequila World, Smuggler’s Den or the Twisted Liquid Flair Theatre. Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards
Now in its ninth year, the Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards (the ‘Oscars’ of the Australian bar industry) covers 23 categories with seven finalists in each, recognising excellence across a broad spectrum of the hospitality industry. Awards include Bar of the Year, Cocktail Bar of the Year, Nightclub of the Year, Bar Manager of the Year, Best Music Offering and the all new, Small Bar of the Year.
One of the most highly anticipated awards each year is the Bartender magazine Bartender of the Year (sponsored by Club Suntory) which is decided through a rigorous three-stage competition on 21st & 23rd September. A record number of 120 bartenders from around the country are expected to compete for top honours this year.
The Bar Awards will be held on Wednesday, 23 September at the Hilton Hotel, Sydney.
Sydney BarShow Week Events
Sydney BarShow has become the perfect platform for a series of networking events that run throughout the week. This year, proceedings kick off with a Welcome Party at the Bayswater Brasserie and a Sagatiba Cachaca party both on Monday, 21 September. Tuesday night will be a sun and sand affair with the Cuervo Margarita Beach Party at theloft at King Street Wharf. Wednesday night will be the moment of glory for many bars and bar industry professionals with the Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards kicking off at 7pm followed at 11pm by the After Party at Zeta Bar presented by Russian Standard Vodka.
